AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
Here at Crockett we expect our AVID students to enroll in preAP/ AP classes beginning their freshmen year. They must also participate in the Early College Start program and take dual credit courses (for free) at ACC beginning after their sophomore year. This will help ensure enrollment to a 4-year university immediately after high school graduation. AVID provides support in these rigorous classes in the form of college tutors who come to our AVID class twice a week. With theses tutors, students are given opportunities during to help each other with their challenging course work. Additionally, to help ensure success, students learn organization, note-taking, communication and collaboration skills. Students will visit several colleges throughout the year and hear from college representatives and various professionals.
