Crockett's Early College High School program provides the opportunity for students to earn an Associate of Arts degree or up to 60 hours of college credit all while in high school!
Early College High Schools are an innovative way for high school students to earn both a high school diploma and a two-year Associate's degree (or up to two years of college credit toward a Bachelor's degree) in the time it takes to go to high school which saves students both time and money.
Early College High Schools are focused on getting students on a direct college path.
Program Highlights
- Educational partnership is between Austin ISD and Austin Community College (ACC).
- Students can earn tuition-free college credits that also satisfy high school requirements.
- Students can earn an Associate of Arts degree at the same time as a high school diploma.
- Students must meet college-readiness standards to take college courses which include passing the Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2) or meeting requirements through the PSAT or SAT. When college-readiness standards are met through testing, students may begin college courses as early as their freshman year.
- Students attend college classes during the day at the Austin Community College-South Austin Campus or on the Crockett High School campus with ACC professors.
- Students can access college support services including college advising, career counseling, free tutoring, use of facilities and participate in events for free.
- There is no cost to the families or students for tuition, textbooks, or associated course fees.
