Gifted and Talented

Crockett High serves students who are currently identified as academically advanced in one or more areas of language arts, math, science and social studies. GT services include instruction by a teacher who has completed the 30-hour GT Foundations training within advanced-level courses which includes curricular tasks with greater depth, complexity, and pacing while working independently and with other GT students as well as students not identified as required by the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students. CTE, Dual Credit, and Early College teachers/professors are not required to complete the GT training but do complete specialized training and/or advanced credentials in their field. GT Students in grades 6-12 are required to enroll in an advanced-level course in their area(s) of identified giftedness. Advanced courses include AP, OnRamps, Dual Credit, Early College and specific CTE courses. GT services in these areas are a form of acceleration. Teachers and counselors provide guidance during the course selection process (grades 5-11) for the next school year.

More information on services at Crockett High School can be provided by the campus’ GT Advocate, a principal-designated liaison for GT between the campus, district, and community.

Additional information and resources are available through Austin ISD’s Advanced Academics website.
